The Employment Independency Program
Youth selecting the Employment Independency Program (EIP) at Path Haven seek to enter the workforce while leasing local residential housing. Employment retained by an employer may be full-time or part-time. Financial assistance is available for transitional housing at Path Haven. Program Coordinators facilitate the youth’s completion of all SIL program requirements. Youth transition from Path Haven to residing in apartments or other housing leased from local landlords for a minimum of 12 months.
While in occupancy at Path Haven and prior to transitioning to leased rentals, youth are required to follow house rules, perform chores as instructed, establish a checking account, complete driver’s education, satisfy career assessments and complete five (5) fundamental life skills courses. Courses are free, asynchronous and online, with subjects encompassing college and workforce readiness, dating and marriage, parenting, retirement and farewell arrangements. A certificate for completing each course is awarded to the youth. For lasting community and support, Path Haven will continually engage with transitioned youth through regular communications and correspondences.
